Professional Profile

After obtaining his law degree from the University of Georgia, where he published in and was an editor of the Georgia Law Review, Mr. Hannan became a partner in a prestigious litigation boutique firm formerly in Atlanta where he obtained a significant amount of trial experience, and thereafter joined a metro Atlanta firm as a name partner before bringing the broad range and depth of his practice to this firm. He has tried to verdict numerous professional liability, ERISA and insurance cases, and has litigated numerous class actions and commercial, nursing home, products liability and employment cases throughout the State of Georgia, in both state and federal courts, resulting in published appellate decisions in these areas.

Mr. Hannan's practice focuses on professional liability defense, insurance law and employee benefits/ERISA (areas in which he has published and lectured), as well as products liability defense, class action defense and commercial litigation. He represents insurers, reinsurers, reinsurance managers, third-party administrators and employers in ERISA and non-ERISA actions for life. disability, AD&D and other plan benefits, as well as E&O/commercial coverage disputes, and successfully defended hundreds of such cases alleging breach of fiduciary duty, violations of state and federal statutes and regulations, breach of contract and bad faith. He also counsels such clients outside of litigation, including but not limited to coverage disputes.

Mr. Hannan has represented physicians of every field, attorneys, nursing homes and professional engineers in professional liability actions.  He represents insurers, mortgage companies, debt adjustment companies and other corporations in class action litigation involving complex commercial issues. In addition, he represents manufacturers of a variety of medical device, consumer and industrial products in products liability actions. Mr. Hannan also assists professionals and corporate clients by providing a variety of services and risk management advice. He is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and has been recognized as a Georgia “Super Lawyer.” Mr. Hannan is admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit; United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Georgia; Supreme Court of the State of Georgia; Court of Appeals for the State of Georgia; and all trial courts of the State of Georgia.
