Matt has significant experience in a wide array of civil litigation practice areas, including:

  • Medical malpractice defense
  • Product liability defense
  • Employment litigation defense
  • Premises liability defense
  • Contract breach
  • Restrictive covenant disputes
  • Secured lending
  • Appellate practice

He has successfully represented clients before state and federal trial courts throughout the country and in appeals before the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia.

Matt also represents clients in a number of non-litigation matters, including medical staff credentialing disputes, investigations by the Georgia Composite Medical Board, and HIPAA privacy violation complaints.

Matt brings to his representation of physicians and other medical providers a motivation that is personal: A number of his own family members are active or retired medical professionals, including a grandfather and uncle who were orthopaedic surgeons, a grandmother and aunt who were nurses, and his father, who is a respiratory therapist.

Matt was recognized by Georgia Super Lawyers magazine in 2009 and 2010 as a Rising Star in the area of medical malpractice defense. In addition, he is admitted by the Supreme Court of Georgia as a Mentor for new lawyers participating in the State Bar of Georgia's Transition into Law Program. He is a frequent speaker before medical professionals, insurer trade groups, and other lawyers on topics relating to his areas of practice.

Matt lives in Newnan with his wife, Cindy, and his son, Everett.
