Ted Lavender is a partner who joined The Weathington Firm, P.C. at its inception. He is an AV rated attorney and was named a 2008 and 2009 Super Lawyer in the area of Medical Malpractice Defense by Super Lawyer and Atlanta Magazine. He represents physicians, hospitals, nurses, dentists, physical therapists, chiropractors, and all other medical care providers and facilities in malpractice cases. He represents medical professionals in licensing board matters and credentialing issues. He has tried cases in Federal and State Courts in Georgia. He has represented defendants in cases involving breach of real estate brokerage contracts, breach of fiduciary duty, tortious interference with business relations, misappropriation of trade secrets, deceptive trade practices, and defamation. He also represents clients in premises liability and other general liability matters, as well as Self-Funded ERISA plan healthcare reimbursement auditing and litigation.
Mr. Lavender brings a unique perspective to the defense of medical malpractice and other tort cases, having previously spent seven years representing plaintiffs in medical malpractice, general tort, and mass tort litigation. His experience representing plaintiffs includes numerous medical malpractice cases, as well as cases involving the Georgia Department of Transportation, Georgia Tort Claims Act, nursing home liability, Americans With Disabilities Act violations, tractor-trailer and automobile wrecks, and products liability cases.
Mr. Lavender is a presenter in the Georgia Bar Association's ethics seminar for first year law students, and he volunteers in the mentoring program. He is a member of the Georgia Society for Healthcare Risk Management (GSHRM), where he has given presentations and contributes to the newsletter. He has given presentations on avoiding civil liability to EMTs, paramedics, and a fraternity at the University of Georgia. He has been a guest speaker at the national convention of the American Association Of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC), as well as for the Atlanta Chapter of AALNC. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Council On Ethical Billing.
Mr. Lavender is a 1997 cum laude graduate of John Marshall Law School. He received his BBA in finance from the University of Georgia in 1992. He is a native of Fitzgerald, Georgia.
