Stan Riepe, M.D., J.D.

Dr. Riepe was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on July 22, 1949. He
attended public schools and graduated from Gainesville High School
in Gainesville, Georgia in 1967. He attended Emory College, without graduating, receiving Phi Beta Kappa in his third year. He was also a member of Phi Delta Theta social fraternity.

Dr. Riepe was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, a medical scholastic honorary society, in his third year and president of the society his fourth year at Emory University School of Medicine.
He was subsequently first honor graduate in his medical class. Dr. Riepe was vice president of his medical school class all four years.

Dr. Riepe did his post graduate medical training at Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He has published and received national recognition clinically in the field of gastroenterology.
Since beginning on the faculty at Emory University School of Medicine in the Section of Digestive Diseases, Dr. Riepe has served in several positions including Clinical Director of Gastroenterology at Emory University Hospital and The Emory Clinic. He is a Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Riepe was in private practice for five years with Digestive Healthcare of Georgia and was Director of Endoscopy at Piedmont Hospital.

G. Truett Jarrard, Jr., M.D. joined the firm at its inception. He is board certified in Internal Medicine. He graduated from Medical College Of Georgia in 1966. He did his residency training at Tulane University and Emory University, and a cardiology fellowship at Emory University. He practiced as a cardiologist at the PAPP Clinic in Newnan, Georgia for 28 years.

Karol DeVito, RN joined the firm in 2010. She has extensive experience as a legal nurse consultant having assisted attorneys in large national product liability (pharmaceutical, medical devises, silica, asbestos) and environmental litigation, as well as defense of physicians, hospitals, and nursing homes since 1996. Karol graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Michigan State University and started her clinical career in critical care (ICU, CCU, Neuro-Trauma, Open-Heart, MICU, PACU) followed by a position at Emory University as a Clinical Research Coordinator. She has also been a Risk Management Consultant at MAG Mutual Insurance Company developing and presenting CME programs to physicians and their staff based on claims data trends and conducting office surveys to assist physicians in identifying and reducing their risk exposure to medical liability claims. Karol was the author, ghost-writer and co-editor of risk management articles sent to 15,000 physicians in the southeast.


Rebecca W. Dowd, R.N.

Rebecca W. Dowd, R.N., an Atlanta native, joined the firm in 2006. She previously worked as a legal nurse consultant at Allen, Weathington, and Reeves. Her clinical nursing experience began in 1982 in the surgical intensive care unit at Grady Memorial Hospital. Rebecca left Grady in 1985 to join the staff of the surgical ICU at Emory University Hospital, and in 1989 she accepted the position of Liver Transplant Coordinator at Emory. She continued in that role until becoming a legal nurse consultant in 1996. Rebecca graduated magna cum laude from The Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing in 1982. She received her Master of Nursing in 1989 from the Nell Hodgsen Woodruff School of Nursing. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for nursing.

Palma Young, RN, joined the firm in 2010. She previously worked as the Risk/Legal Officer for Tanner Health System. Palma has more than 25 years of healthcare experience, and has practiced nursing in ICU, Labor and Delivery and Home Health. She holds an Executive Juris Doctor Degree in Health Law, and a Master's Degree in Public Affairs/Health Administration, and is certified in Infection Control and Healthcare Risk Management. Palma also completed a year-long fellowship in Patient Safety, and has received the designation of Fellow in the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management. Palma is also active in the Georgia Society for Healthcare Risk Management, and was the organization's President from 2009-2010.
